NYS motorcycle inspections

New York State motorcycle inspections done on the spot at 36 John Street. Ride in, get it done, ride out legal — no appointment and no leaving the bike overnight.

What you get

Legal before the weekend, not after it.

A Honda motorcycle parked in the service bay at Blackwood Cycles, Walden NY.

A New York inspection is only valid for twelve months, and the sticker always seems to run out in the middle of riding season. Most shops in Orange County close at five or six, which means taking time off work to sit in a waiting room.

  • Done while you wait, not left overnight.
  • Open until 9PM Monday through Saturday, so it fits after a shift.
  • If something fails, you hear exactly what and why before anything is touched.
  • Small fixes can often be handled the same visit, so you leave with the sticker.
  • Walk in — there is no booking system to work around.
Do I need an appointment for a NYS inspection?
No. Ride in any day except Sunday between 10AM and 9PM.
What happens if my bike fails?
You get told exactly what failed and what it takes to pass, before any work starts. Nothing gets fixed without you agreeing to it first.
How often does a motorcycle need inspecting in New York?
Every twelve months. The sticker on your plate shows the month and year it expires.
How long does an inspection take?
It is a wait-for-it job in most cases. That is the whole point of doing them on the spot.
