Motorcycle brake service

Brake pads give plenty of warning before they fail, and almost all of it is easy to talk yourself out of. The lever comes back a little further than it used to. There is a faint scrape at low speed that goes away once things warm up. Then the friction material runs out, the backing plate meets the rotor, and a pad job turns into a pad and rotor job.

  • Pads front and rear, with the rotors measured rather than eyeballed.
  • Fluid changed and the system bled properly — old fluid absorbs water and boils.
  • Calipers cleaned and pistons checked so the pads release instead of dragging.
  • You get told if it can safely wait, because sometimes it can.
  • Most brake work goes out the same day.

How do I know my brake pads need replacing?
A lever that travels further than it used to, a bite point that has moved, or any scraping or grinding sound. If you hear metal on metal, stop riding it and bring it in.
Do you replace brake fluid as well as pads?
Yes. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and gives you a soft lever when the brakes get hot. It is worth changing on a schedule, not just when something fails.
Can you do brakes the same day?
Most brake work goes out the same day it comes in.
What if my rotors are damaged?
We measure them rather than guessing. If a rotor is under spec or scored, you will be told before anything is ordered or fitted.
